I-90 Closed Until May

i90

In light of the recent winter weather leading to several multi-vehicle accidents, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has announced that the section of Interstate 90 that crosses through the commonwealth will be closed until May 1st

“This is the only way to guarantee there won’t be any accidents,” said PennDOT spokesman Andy Hummel. “Plus it will save on salt.” Drivers who normally use the Interstate are asked to detour onto much safer roads, like Routes 5 and 20.

Local tow truck operators are not happy with this announcement. “Snowy days on I-90 are what put my seven children through college,” said Bobby Stinson, owner of Tow Jam Towing.

PennDOT says they may re-open I-90 in April if there’s a warm spell.

Bobby Stinson of Tow Jam Towing: what if it were one or all seven of your children involved in the accidents? Would you still be upset about it being closed due to the danger to peoples lives?

  6. That’s funny!!!! I wouldn’t care if they closed it – I avoid that stretch like the plague in the winter – people driving too fast and too close together. No, thank you – I’ll take my time, go an alternate route, and be safe!

If I was the citizens I would recall those officials they don’t own the roads the public does.

I am deeply disturbed by the derogatory comments being made about Bobby Stinson of Towjam towing. I have known Mr. Stinson — he was known as “Bubby” to us — for over 40 years, and his integrity and professionalism have never been questioned .. except for maybe that one time in 1978. (See the “Harold G. Reslink Exchange Incident”)

The fact that he put seven children through college should be a point of admiration, not scorn. (And surprise, also, since Bobby himself was in Special Ed at Gridley and East, and was never known as the sharpest knife in the drawer.) And his commitment to his hometown is apparent. Instead of contributing to Erie’s brain drain, all seven of Booby’s well-educated children live at home in his basement and are employed part-time at Towjam — except for Bubby, Jr., of course. (See “Meth Lab discovered in scrap yard”, Erie times-News, October, 2013)

Mr. Stinson deserves the same respect and dignity that an actual real-life person would get.
